Earleen sells CIM 13.37: First, it looks like the dividend is secure and will be paid again.

This statement should have your attention as well. While the maintenance of this dividend is worth writing about, there was one key line in the release that has really caught my attention. Prepayments have been an issue, but I foresee them subsiding into the end of 2015, easing pressure on the yields and subsequently the spreads. Well, the net interest spread dipped again in Q2 2015, following a trend in the sector as it came in at 3.6%. This is down from 4% a quarter ago. Chimera is a leader in the sector for its net interest rate spread.

Jerrica:
The company's core earnings for the quarter came in at $0.53 per share, down $0.06 from the $0.59 earned in Q1. These earnings easily covered the quarterly dividend, as Chimera paid a common stock dividend of $0.48 per share for the quarter.

Vena:
Core earnings are a strong indication of coverage.

Mercedes:
Well, the company missed on revenues and earnings in Q2. However, Chimera once again increased its income quarter-over-quarter.

Janeen:
That said, should we be concerned with Chimera's dividend?

Deloras:
The poor Q1 and Q2 have led me to foresee numerous cuts, and I have been asked about many names of late.

Malena:
However, I have been cautioning investors regarding dividend cuts of late.

Kathrine:
When it reported second-quarter earnings , we learned that the company was not immune to the pain that was Q2 for mREITs.

Marianela:
Why I think a dividend raise is possible.

Sherrell:
When many competitors are cutting dividends, Chimera has been covering its dividend with ease.

Kimberely:
Stockholders of record on Tuesday, June 30th were paid a dividend of $0.48 per share.
