Zoraida buys LNT 58.37: Our objective is for our core holdings (those in the foundation in the graphic below) to contribute more than 50% of our overall portfolio's income.

Utilities, including telcos, are an integral part of the Dividend House DGI portfolio's core holdings. I'm focusing on the utilities sector first because these stocks are considered core stocks in the Dividend House DGI portfolio. Which Utilities are Buying Opportunities Today? Of course, as usual, I am looking for solid to great values. This article focuses on the stocks in the utilities sector (including telcos) where we are underfunded or where I'd be interested in adding a new position.

Before we left, I wrote myself a note to check on buying opportunities in utilities, consumer staples and healthcare when we returned.

While we were gone, we missed the market flash crash and those related buying opportunities.

Jayme:
How many more utilities could become reasonably priced if the utility sector goes on sale?

Nedra:
Our analysis reveals four utilities that can be considered reasonably priced today, with two more not unreasonably priced.

Kristina:
Over the past year, Alliant Energy has traded in a range of $54.69 to $70.80 and is now at $56.37, 3% above that low.

Caprice:
This represents a $2.20 dividend on an annualized basis and a yield of 3.52%. The ex-dividend date was Wednesday, July 29th.

Hae:
Shareholders of record on Friday, July 31st were paid a dividend of $0.55 per share.

Gwen:
On average, equities analysts forecast that Alliant Energy will post $3.63 EPS for the current fiscal year.

Ernestina:
The company reported $0.67 earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter, topping the Thomson Reuters consensus estimate of $0.60 by $0.07. During the same period last year, the business earned $0.56 EPS.

Silva:
Argus lowered their price target on shares of Alliant Energy from $71.00 to $67.00 and set a buy rating on the stock in a research report on Wednesday, June 24th.
