Alexander holds PYPL 33.77: The offering price is 4.6 percent below the closing price per share of PayPal's common stock on September 9, 2015, the last trading day before the offer was commenced.

Of the 39 analysts who cover Paypal stock, 25 suggest Buy, 11 favor Hold, whereas the rest recommend a Sell rating. Piper Jaffray analysts believe that Xoom is relatively small compared to Paypal, and the potential acquisition synergies are not enough to change the thesis on the stock. However, the deal was confirmed later, after 95% of the shareholders voted in favor of the aforementioned proposal. Previously, Paypal had announced to acquire Xoom, a digital consumer-to-consumer international money transfer business, after it split from eBay earlier this year. The firm maintained its bearish stance on the payment platform, and cited uncertainty in its value proposition to merchants and users.
