Keren sells UGAZ 7.17: On Friday, natural gas futures once again retreated to the low end of the trading range, albeit with much lower volume of just over 200,000 contracts for the session.

The EIA numbers came in higher than most analysts expected; the injection into inventories was higher. This is 18.3% higher than last year at this time and 4% above the five-year average. Energy Information Administration announced that as of August 28, inventories of natural gas in the United States rose by 94 billion cubic feet to a total of 3.193 trillion cubic feet. There are huge reserves of the energy commodity in the Marcellus and Utica shale regions of the United States, which weighs heavily on price and has kept bearish sentiment prevalent in the market. The decrease in open interest is reflective of the 14.5% price drop in the October natural gas futures contract over the same period.
